As you begin having astral projection experiences, you may soon discover that you have a hard time remembering what happened. During my initial experiments I found that I would “wake up” from my astral voyages and, if I was lucky, I would remember bits and pieces but never a complete experience. Over time I have discovered some important steps that you can take to help improve your ability to remember what happened.

Affirmation

If you lie down determined to have some astral projection experiences, you should always start with an affirmation to remind yourself that you are more than your physical body. You should remind yourself that you can, at any time, return to your physical body with a complete and vivid memory of the entire experience. By developing an affirmation and repeating it to yourself consistently, it will become engrained in your subconscious and will improve your abilities while traveling astrally.

Remain Still

As soon as you return to your body from your astral projection experiences, fight the urge to quickly open your eyes and remember what happened during the experience. Instead, lay there with your eyes closed and your body still. By denying your body access to external stimuli, your mind will be better focused to recall your astral journey.

Keep a journal

The single most important thing you can do to improve the recall of your astral projection experiences is to keep a journal and pen next to your bed. Once you have recalled everything possible from your journey, open your eyes, sit up in bed, turn the light on and write down what happened. By consistently writing down things in your journal (even if it is only a few keywords or parts of a scene) you will begin to recall the experiences more vividly.
